Ticket collection

The ticket office opening hours are as follows: 27 to 30 December from 9am to 4pm. Tickets can be delivered to private addresses or hotels in Austria for an additional EUR 10.

The ticket office is located inside the HOFBURG Vienna:

Delivery: you can opt to have your tickets delivered when making your booking online. Please send us an email informing us of the delivery address in Austria by 1 December: silvesterball@hofburg.com

Allocation of seats

Seat and table reservations are allocated by the ball office based on the category booked. Details can be found on your ball ticket. Seats are not allocated until the start of December.

We will be happy to take a note of the seat you have requested and will try our best to take your wishes into account. Unfortunately we are not able to guarantee a specific seat at this time. You can rest assured that we will do everything we can to meet your requirements.


Dress code: Floor length ball gown, tails, tuxedo or gala uniform. The ball committee reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone not wearing appropriate ball attire. Sewing and alterations

In the event of a wardrobe emergency, we have an on-site sewing service for our guests at the ball.

Photo studio

Fotostudio Sulzer will be at the ball all night long to capture those special memories on camera.

A special photo studio in the Antekammer is available where you can immortalise your night at the Hofburg, with prints ready for collection at Gardehalle I after a short time.

Sound and image recordings

By attending the HOFBURG Silvesterball you expressly give your consent for the publication of any images and video footage that you appear in.

A clearly-signposted smoking area has been set up for smokers in the Gardehof courtyard.

Smoking is prohibited in all other part of the building. By complying, visitors also make an active contribution to the preservation of the historic venue.


Children are welcome to attend the HOFBURG Silvesterball. With lots to experience and a spellbinding programme long into the night, your children are certain to enjoy themselves. Highlights include picking a four-leaf clover, decorating Punschkrapfen fondant fancies, writing wish lists, show acts, the public quadrille and a disco.

Please note that the strict dress code also applies to children. All children and teenagers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. If the parent or guardian has a ticket with a table reservation, we kindly remind ball guests that it is not possible to share a single seat with the child. In such cases, the child requires its own seat in the same category. If the parent or guardian has a circle ticket, a student ticket can be purchased for any accompanying children. Please note that discounts are not available for table reservations and gala dinners.


Viennese waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha-cha. Slow waltz, boogie-woogie, disco... ­­­­­­- The HOFBURG Silvesterball has something to set every dance fan’s pulse racing!

You don’t have to be a pro to throw shapes on the dancefloor. However, you can attend our waltz class to learn the basics or brush up on your skills.


A free cloakroom service is available in the Prinz Eugen Saal on the ground floor.


All of the ball rooms are wheelchair accessible. Please notify us in advance if you or anyone in your group has restricted mobility. Important: there are no barrier free seats available in the Festsaal Grand Ticket and Festsaal Star Ticket categories!

after 1 November 2019: 100% of the full price

Waltz classes

Tickets for waltz classes on 30 and 31 December can be booked here.

Classes last 60 minutes. Please ensure that you arrive 15 minutes early. There is no special dress code, but we recommend bringing dance shoes or the shoes that you will be wearing on the night with you. The entrance to the Waltz lesson is here.Waltz classes are suitable for international participants and are conducted in several languages.
